White House: Tapping U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve ‘is certainly an option on the table’

White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Wednesday told reporters that the Biden administration is considering tapping the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve, as it works with allies to minimize to the Russia-Ukraine conflict’s impact on the global energy market. “That is certainly an option on the table,” Psaki said, when asked if releasing more oil from the reserve was an option. The Biden administration tapped the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in November in an effort to push down oil prices.
