White House says China shouldn’t turn Pelosi’s Taiwan visit into a crisis

There’s no reason for Beijing to turn House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Taiwan visit, which is consistent with long-standing U.S. policy, into some sort of crisis or use it as a pretext to increase aggressiveness and military activity in or around the Taiwan Strait, said John Kirby, a spokesman for the White House’s National Security Council. Pelosi arrived in Taiwan earlier Tuesday.
