: U.S. stocks finish lower for first time in three sessions as dollar, bond yields rise

U.S. stocks finished lower on Wednesday, with the major indexes logging their first loss in three days, as Treasury yields and the dollar continued to climb, outweighing more strong earnings reports from American firms. The S&P 500 SPX finished down 24.82 points, or 0.7%, at 3,695.16. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA closed off 99.99 points, or 0.3%, at 30,423.81. The Nasdaq Composite COMP shed 91.89 points, or 0.9%, at 10,680.51. The ICE U.S. Dollar Index, a gauge of the dollar’s strength against a basket of rivals, was up 0.7% at 112.96. Treasury yields continued to advance past 4% across the curve.
