Partial O’Hare closure over bomb threat lifted: report

A partial shutdown of O’Hare International Airport was lifted Tuesday after authorities at the Chicago hub determined a bomb threat was unfounded. The facility had been partially cleared after 6 a.m. local time, or 7 a.m. Eastern, when an apparent passenger told an airline employee of a bomb secreted in the passenger’s bag and then, according to WGN-TV, left the scene. TSA reportedly told WGN that Chicago police had cleared the area, redirecting passengers from two checkpoints in Terminal 1. The partial closure of the larger of Chicago’s two major airports, and one of the world’s busiest, reportedly lasted less than an hour.
