: Amazon may face ‘far-reaching’ FTC antitrust lawsuit in coming weeks: report

The Federal Trade Commission is gearing up to launch a “far-reaching” antitrust lawsuit against Amazon.com Inc. AMZNwith a focus on its e-commerce business, Bloomberg News reported Thursday. The suit, which could hit in the coming weeks, is expected to emphasize allegations that Amazon rewards merchants that use its logistics services and punishes merchants that don’t. The story cites multiple unnamed sources as well as documents reviewed by Bloomberg. It notes that past public comments from FTC Chair Lina Khan imply she may push for a restructuring of Amazon’s business, though the company would appeal that. Amazon didn’t immediately respond to a MarketWatch request for comment on the report, nor did a representative from the FTC.
