: AMD plans $400 million expansion in India

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. AMD joined other chipmakers Friday announcing it will invest about $400 million to expand in India over the next five years. AMD said the investment includes the building of a new campus and design center in Bangalore that will add 3,000 engineering jobs by 2028. AMD said it already has 6,500 employees based in India. The design center would add to locations AMD has in Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. Microchip Technology Inc. MCHP, Micron Technology Inc. MU, and Applied Materials Inc. AMAT have all announced recent expansion plans in India.
