: Dow industrials lead all three major U.S. stock indexes higher in final hour of trading

All three major U.S. stock indexes were higher in Monday’s final hour of trading, led by a 0.5% jump in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The Dow was headed for its first gain in four trading sessions, as traders awaited Wednesday’s consumer price index for June. Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal expect the annual headline CPI rate to ease to 3.1%, and the narrower core reading to slip to 5% on a year-over-year basis. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq were each up 0.1% and also appeared to be on their way toward their first gain in four days.
