: Hycroft Mining is latest company to hire ShareIntel to investigate illegal short selling of its stock

Read Time:50 Second

Hycroft Mining Holding Corp. HYMC, the Nevada-based gold and silver mine in which cinema operator AMC Entertainment Holdings Corp. AMC famously owns a stake, said Thursday it has hired ShareIntel to review alleged illegal trading in its stock. The company is the latest to ask ShareIntel to review trading patterns, concerned that volatile swings in their stock prices are being caused by naked short selling, or the practice of shorting a stock without borrowing it first. The list includes Mullen Automotive Inc. MULN and Blink Charging Co. BLNK. “To date, ShareIntel’s analysis has identified reporting imbalances in Hycroft’s shares which may be the by-product of non-compliant or abusive short selling activity,” the company said in a statement. The penny stock has fallen 23% in the year to date, while the S&P 500 SPX has gained 16%.
