: U.S. stocks open higher as Dow industrials attempt to book 10th day of gains
U.S. stock indexes opened higher on Friday with the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA aiming to stretch its winning streak to 10 sessions, while technology stocks are rebounding from the selloff on Thursday after disappointing earnings. The Dow industrials rose 70 points, or 0.2%, to 35,293, on track for its longest winning streak since August 2017, according to Dow Jones Market Data. The S&P 500 SPX advanced 0.3% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP gained 0.7%. American Express Co. AXP stock fell 3.8% after the company said Friday that spending on its cards touched an all-time high in the second quarter as consumers continued to pay up for travel and entertainment experiences. Shares of Schlumberger N.V. SLB shed 1.3% after second-quarter revenue at the oil-field services company came in below expectations.
