Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe and Alpine Investors said they raised their largest-ever private equity funds in separate announcements on Wednesday. Welsh Carson closed WCAS XIV LP with more than $5 billion in capital commitments to focus on the health care and technology sectors. The fund surpassed the $4.3 billion it raised for WCAS XIII in 2019. Credit Suisse Securities, Merrill Lynch, Mirae Asset Securities and Omnicap are listed as placement agents for the fund, according to a filing. Meanwhile, Alpine Investors drew in $4.5 billion for Alpine Investors IX, double the size of Fund VIII, which raised $2.25 billion in 2021. Evercore Inc. was placement agent for the fund.
