: Xi gave Putin in-person warning against nuclear strike in Ukraine: report

Chinese President Xi Jinping warned Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin not to launch a nuclear strike against Ukraine in a face-to-face meeting in March, the Financial Times reported, citing Western and Chinese officials. Xi reportedly delivered his message during a highly choreographed state visit to Moscow. Beijing has subsequently taken credit “at every level” for having put Putin on notice, the FT reported, citing an official in the Biden administration. The two leaders have on at least two occasions since early 2022 publicly proclaimed a limitless bilateral relationship.
