: Supreme Court says Apple can keep App Store payment rules for now, spurning Epic Games
The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday said Apple Inc. AAPL can keep its App Store payment rules for now, in a rejection of Epic Games Inc.’s request that would have let developers direct iPhone users to lower-priced alternatives online. Justice Elena Kagan said she wouldn’t let a federal appeals court decision take effect immediately, as Epic had sought. Earlier this year, the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals said Apple violated California’s Unfair Competition Law by limiting the ability of developers to communicate about alternative payment systems, including purchases through the Epic Games Store.
