: U.S. stocks open flat after Tuesday’s losses with inflation report ahead

U.S. stocks opened little-changed on Wednesday following Tuesday’s losses as traders eyed an upcoming July inflation report. The S&P 500 SPX was flat at 4,500. The Nasdaq Composite COMP was marginally higher at 13,887. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA was unchanged at 35,308. Investors will receive the July CPI report on Thursday, which will offer some insight into the pace of consumer-price growth last month. Analysts believe the report could impact perceptions about the Federal Reserve’s plans for monetary policy, which could impact markets. Economists polled by the Wall Street Journal expect prices to have risen by 0.2%.
