: U.S. stocks struggle for direction ahead of job openings data
U.S. stocks opened mixed Tuesday, appearing to take a pause after back-to-back gains, as investors await economic data on job openings and consumer confidence. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA was about flat soon after the opening bell, while the S&P 500 SPX was up less than 0.1% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP fell 0.1%, according to FactSet data, at last check. Later this morning investors will see data on jobs openings in July and consumer confidence in August.
