: UAW strike moves to GM’s truck ‘moneymaker’ plant, GM stock turns lower
The United Auto Workers on Tuesday expanded its strike to General Motors Co.’s GM Arlington, Texas, truck plant, where 5,000 workers have joined the strike. Arlington is GM’s largest plant “and biggest moneymaker,” they said. The action came shortly after GM reported third-quarter earnings and withdrew guidance due to the uncertainty brewed by the strike. GM Arlington makes the Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade, high-margin large SUVs that U.S. consumers have favored for years. The UAW on Monday called for a strike at Stellantis NV’s STLAlargest plant, making Ram trucks. GM stock, which was up more than 1% after the earnings beat, turned lower on the strike news.
