The Jan. 6 Select Committee issued a subpoena Friday to former President Trump to testify under oath and produce documents relevant to the committee’s investigation of the 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. “We have assembled overwhelming evidence…that you personally orchestrated and oversaw a multi-part effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election,” Democratic Chairman Bennie Thomson of Mississippi and Republican Vice Chairwoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming wrote in a letter to Trump informing him of the subpoena. The subpoena requires that Trump produce documents by Nov. 4, or four days before the midterm elections, and to begin his testimony “on or about Nov. 14 and continuing on subsequent days as necessary.”
