: Douglas O’Donnell to take post as acting IRS commissioner next month, Treasury says
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Friday designated Douglas O’Donnell as acting IRS commissioner, saying he will head the agency following the end of Commissioner Charles Rettig’s term on Nov. 12. O’Donnell is now the agency’s deputy commissioner. “Deputy Commissioner O’Donnell has dedicated his career to serving American taxpayers through every level of the agency,” Yellen said in a statement. “His commitment to improving the experience of the American taxpayer will guide his and the agency’s work as they continue their efforts to propel the IRS forward during a critical period of modernization.”
