: Sen. Rick Scott to challenge Mitch McConnell as Republican leader
Sen. Rick Scott of Florida said he will challenge Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to be the Republican Party’s leader in the chamber next year. The Senate GOP is expected to hold leadership elections on Wednesday, following Tuesday’s House contests. Scott, reports CNN, has little chance of succeeding but his bid is seen as a protest vote. Democrats held the Senate in last week’s midterm elections while the GOP is expected to narrowly control the House.
