: Republican FTC Commissioner Wilson says she’s quitting agency and blasts Chair Lina Khan

Read Time:1 Minute, 1 Second

Christine Wilson, a Republican on the Federal Trade Commission, said Tuesday she’s resigning from the agency soon over disagreements with Chair Lina Khan. “Much ink has been spilled about Lina Khan’s attempts to remake federal antitrust law as chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. Less has been said about her disregard for the rule of law and due process and the way senior FTC officials enable her,” Wilson said in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal. Wilson accused Khan, who was nominated by President Joe Biden, of breaking precedent by consolidating power in the chairman’s office. Earlier this month, the FTC suffered a setback when a California judge denied the agency’s bid for a preliminary injunction to block Meta Platforms Inc.’s META proposed acquisition of VR startup Within Unlimited. Khan and Democratic commissioners Rebecca Slaughter and Alvaro Bedoya said in a statement: “While we often disagreed with Commissioner Wilson, we respect her devotion to her beliefs and are grateful for her public service. We wish her well in her next endeavor.”
