President Joe Biden on Monday called for background checks and other gun-control steps in the wake of a shooting at a bank in downtown Louisville, Ky. “It’s long past time that we require safe storage of firearms. Require background checks for all gun sales. Eliminate gun manufacturers’ immunity from liability. We can and must do these things now,” he said in a statement. Police said five people were killed in a shooting at a bank building in downtown Louisville and the suspected shooter is also dead. Six others were brought to the hospital after the Monday morning shooting, according to police.
