General Motors Co. GM is recalling 40,428 Chevrolet medium-duty trucks, as the break-pressure sensor assembly could leak brake fluid and cause an electrical short circuit that raises the risk of a fire while driving or parked. In a letter from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) dated Friday, it’s acknowledged that GM is recalling Chevrolet 4500HD, 5500 HD and 6500HD model trucks from 2019 to 2023. GM said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the break-pressure sensor issue, but said owners should park those trucks outside until the issues is fixed. GM said remedy parts “are not currently available,” but when they are available dealers will replace free of charge. GM’s stock, which was little changed in premarket trading, has slipped 0.3% year to date while the S&P 500 SPX has gained 7.7%.
