: U.S. stocks mostly higher heading into final hour of trading

All three major U.S. stock indexes were treading water on Monday, as investors await a busy week of earnings and economic data that may help shape the Federal Reserve’s next interest-rate decision on May 3. Dow industrials were up 57 points, or 0.2%, in the final hour of trading. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 was up less than 0.1% and the Nasdaq Composite was off by 0.3%. Alphabet Inc., Microsoft Corp., Meta Platforms Inc., and Amazon.com Inc. are all set to report earnings between Tuesday and Thursday.
