China would face “consequences” if it helps Russia in its war against Ukraine, White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters on Monday. The Biden administration’s warning came following a meeting between National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and Yang Jiechi, a member of China’s Politburo, in Rome. Psaki did not detail potential consequences. A White House statement said Sullivan in the meeting “raised a range of issues in U.S.-China relations, with substantial discussion of Russia’s war against Ukraine.”
