: European Commission says it may want to break up Google’s ad-tech business

Read Time:34 Second

The European Commission said it’s taken a preliminary view that Google has breached antitrust rules in the advertising technology industry and that only a divestment of part of its services would address concerns. The regulator said Google favors its own online display advertising technology services to the detriment of other providers as well as advertisers and online publishers. Google, a unit of Alphabet GOOGL, can be fined up to 10% of total worldwide revenue. Alphabet shares weakened 0.2% in premarket trade but have gained 40% this year.
