: Trump classified documents case trial set for May

Judge Aileen Cannon has set former President Donald Trump’s classified documents trial to begin May 20, 2024. Cannon, who was a Trump appointee, rejected the former president’s effort to delay the trial until after the 2024 White House campaign. Trump, who is the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination, has pleaded not guilty to charges that he illegally took classified documents from the White House when he finished his term.
