: Amazon cuts price for iRobot acquisition after robot maker’s debt deal

Amazon.com Inc. AMZN intends to pay a lower price to acquire iRobot Corp. IRBT, the companies said Tuesday. The two companies announced that Amazon now plans to pay $51.75 a share to acquire the maker of robotic vacuums and other consumer products. The previously agreed-upon price was $61 a share. The release also noted that iRobot has entered into a $200 million financing facility to help fund its operations. The new pricing “reflects the incurrence of iRobot’s new debt,” iRobot Chief Executive Colin Angle said in the release. Amazon’s deal for iRobot faces regulatory pushback, including within the European Union.
