: Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest backs AI business Shield AI with a $2.7B valuation

Defense technology company Shield AI said Tuesday it received a valuation of $2.7 billion with backing from Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest in a $200 million Series F round of venture funding led by the U.S. Innovative Technology Fund and Riot Ventures. Returning investors Disruptive and Snowpoint also took part in the investment round. San Diego-based Shield AI specializes in an artificial intelligence (AI) pilot program called Hivemind, “which enables teams of intelligent aircraft to operate autonomously in high-threat environments on the edge, without the need for remote operators, command inputs, or GPS.”
