New York Community Bancorp’s stock crushed on surprise loss, dividend cut and losses on two loans

The bank reduced its payout to 5 cents from 17 cents after absorbing losses tied to two loans and as it builds up capital to meet requirements for larger banks after acquiring the ailing Signature Bank last year.
