Sircaliburx Helps the Homeless

Artist, rapper, and influencer, Sircaliburx AKA THE MEME GOD, displays his versatile set of skills all the time online. In addition to his music and memes, the artist also has his own brand and label, InTheWaveCorp, keeping him busy, but not too busy to give back to those around him in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sircaliburx constantly makes an effort to help the people in the city of Brotherly Love get the food and clothes they need to keep going, while pushing others to help out as well.

In September of last year, Sircaliburx organized and collected clothing to donate to people in need. In just one week he was able to collect thousands of articles of clothing, which were then handed off accordingly. “I have saying I believe in, wealth is of the heart and mind, not the pocket,” Sircaliburx says. “I feel wealthy when I’m giving out clothes, food, whatever the people say they need, I feel good when I’m helping.”

For Thanksgiving of last year, Sircaliburx saw a need for turkeys among some local Philadelphian. To fill that need, he gave away 100 turkeys so that families and people in need could have the signature dish at their dinner tables for the holiday. “Every artist wants to blow up and then go back to where they’re from and give back, I want to always be doing that. It’s like I’m here now already with a way to help out, so why not do it.”

In 2019, the City of Philadelphia Office of Homeless Services reported that the city had the lowest number of street homeless people per capita of any of the largest cities in the US. In total, about 5,700 Philadelphians are considered to be homeless across the city, which includes about 950 who are unsheltered.

The city puts forth a great deal of effort to try and combat the issue of homelessness, but Sircaliburx wants people to know that there’s still things that people need.

“The food I give out, it goes away so fast, same with the clothes,” he says. “These people need all that and more, and I think people need to be more aware of the homeless people in their areas. I’m becoming more aware of what it’s like, and in Philly I feel like I’ve been able to help out a lot.”

The Opioid crisis has caused a lot of people to become homeless in Philadelphia in recent years. Homelessness in the downtown Center City area is also more apparent now due to construction and fewer spaces for people to live. These kinds of conditions apply not only to Philadelphia, but to many other metro areas across the country.

On May 15th of this year, Sircaliburx gave away 100 Little Caesars pizzas to homeless people living on Skid Row in Los Angeles during an event that he called SirCalibur Day. Those pizzas were given out quickly as word of mouth spread about what was being given away.

Sircaliburx plans to continue to show compassion for others that are less fortunate and inspire others to the same. Sircaliburx explains, “Even if people have somewhere to stay for the night, that doesn’t mean they’re not struggling with getting the essentials.”

“There will always be people in need,” he says. I want to be of service to people.” This is what makes Sircaliburx feel fulfilled and successful. He ends by saying, “ If I’m helping others and improving lives, I feel it in my heart and I know it’s right.”

The rapper hopes to continue to help the less fortunate in his community, while also inspiring people in other areas to do the same. In particular, he plans on repeating the success with additional rounds of clothing donations and turkey and pizza giveaways in the near future. “It’s really not that hard once you actually get to it,” he says. “You just have to be willing to go for it and put yourself out there to get the help and be willing to make it happen.”
